Alzheimer’s Association Caregivers Conference
The Alzheimer’s Association will hold a conference for caregivers on Friday, Aug. 24 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the Payson Senior Center, 514 W. Main Street.  Guest speakers will discuss dementia, memory loss, communication, financial and legal planning and challenging behaviors.  Prior registration is required.  There is no charge.  To register, call: (602) 528-0545.

Tessa Garnet to play at Mountain High Coffee Works

First Payson Longhorn Football Game
The Payson High School Longhorn football team will play its first game of the season on Friday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m.  The team will play at home against Chino Valley.

Payson Farmers Market
Visit the Payson Farmers Market this Saturday, August 25 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Sawmill Theatre parking lot at 816 S. Kenny Davis Regional Finals Rodeo
Watch cowboys and cowgirls compete in the 2012 Kenny Davis Regional Finals Rodeo at the Payson Event Center on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. for the finals at the Indian National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Enjoy watching some of the best overall rodeo talent in the Southwest in rodeo events such as senior team roping and junior barrel racing, steer riding and breakaway roping.  Admission is $5 per person.  The event is sponsored by the Mazatzal Hotel and Casino in partnership with the Southwest Indian Rodeo Association.

Calvary Chapel hosts Harvest America Crusade Live Webcast
The Calvary Chapel Payson Church, 1103 N. Alzheimer’s disease lecture at Payson Care Center
Dr. Christine Belden, director of neuropsychology at Banner Sun Health Institute, will present a lecture on Alzheimer’s disease and current Alzheimer’s research information at Payson Care Center, 107 E. The Black Forest Society to play at Mountain High Coffee Works
The Black Forest Society will play at Mountain High Coffee Works, 612 N. Beeline Highway, on Friday, Aug. 31 at 6 p.m.  Take a journey through the deep woods with acoustic guitarist William Schwab and multi-instrumentalist Dave Rentz . 58th Annual Northern Gila County Fair
The 58th Annual Northern Gila County Fair will be held on Friday, Sept. 7 through Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Payson Event Center.  Exhibits open at 9 a.m.  The “home-grown” fair features everything from farm animals to blue ribbon pies. This year there will be live entertainment, educational booths, food and fun for children of all ages. There will also be a horse show and livestock, small animals, agriculture, floriculture, handicrafts, lapidary, fine arts and photography.  For more information, contact Marsha at: (602) 291-2152.
Sixth Annual Payson Demolition Derby
The Sixth Annual Payson Demolition Derby  will be held in conjunction with the Northern Gila County Fair at the Payson Event Center on Sunday, Sept. 9.  Gates will open at 11:30 a.m. and the derby will start at 1 p.m.  Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for three years of age and under.  The event is sponsored by the Payson Parks & Recreation Department and Honeycutt Rodeo. For more information, contact Nelson Beck at: (928) 474-5242, ext. 306.

Zane Grey Event: ‘An Evening Under the Tonto Rim’ Saturday, Sept. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The Northern Gila County Historical Society presents, “An Evening Under the Tonto Rim,” a Zane Grey event to benefit the historical society.  The special evening will be held at the site of the original Zane Grey cabin and directions to the site will be printed on the back of each ticket.  The event is from 5 till 8 p.m. and includes dinner, a tour of the Zane Grey cabin and a presentation by State Historian Marshall Trimble.  For more information, call the NGCHS at: 474-3483.

Annual Labor Day Weekend Arts and Crafts Festival in Pine
The 32nd Annual Labor Day Weekend Arts & Crafts Festival will be held at the Pine Community Center on North Highway 87 in Pine on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2.
