ADOT to widen SR 260 at Doubtful Canyon

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is starting construction on a project to improve State Route (SR) 260 between mileposts 269 and 272, just west of Christopher Creek Campground.
The project, known as the Doubtful Canyon Widening Project, will construct three miles of divided four-lane highway between the previously improved Kohl's Ranch and Christopher Creek segments of the SR 260 roadway. The widening of SR 260 at Doubtful Canyon is the fifth of six projects designed to widen the highway from Star Valley to the Mogollon Rim.
Work is scheduled for completion by fall 2012.
Additional improvements include:
Six concrete bridges
• Improved drainage
• Additional fencing to protect elk and other wildlife
• Application of rubberized asphalt pavement to minimize

ADOT will make every effort to minimize impacts on the traveling public during construction. Traffic restrictions may be necessary to complete some work.
While ADOT strives to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions during any construction project, there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
