Press Release
Subject Arrested for Burglary and Domestic
Matthew Bickman was arrested for domestic violence, assault, possession of stolen property, threats and disorderly conduct following a complaint from his uncle when he arrived home carrying a plasma TV.
The Gila County Sheriff’s Office received a 9-1-1 call at 12:30 p.m. April 14 when Luke Bourns reported he was having a fight with his nephew, Matthew Bickman, and had locked him out of the house. Deputies arrived on scene in the community of Beaver Valley north of Payson and met with Bourns and Bickman and started the investigation.
Bickman apparently came out of the trees carrying a large plasma TV and when he was confronted by his uncle, he said “a guy gave it to him”. Bourns told the same story to Deputy Matt Hill. Sgt. Doreen Spychala began checking some of the residences nearby where she found a home with a broken window. Detective Garrett determined that the stolen TV was taken from this residence from evidence found at the scene. Upon further investigation, Deputy Matt Hill located a cable box belonging to the burglarized residence in the East Verde River behind the suspect’s residence.
The homeowner was contacted and told of what happened as they were not in the area when this occurred. There were several other items located that are believed to have come from the burglarized residence and are currently impounded and awaiting identification from the homeowners.
Additional charges could be filed pending the outcome of this investigation.
