Lt. Tim Scott of the Gila County Sheriff's Office confirmed today (Thursday, April 7) at 2:50 p.m. that the man who was the subject of a search and rescue effort in a remote section of the Tonto National Forest within the Town of Star Valley has been found. He was reported missing Friday, April 1.
Scott said Mark Alexander "showed up at his sister's house in Phoenix an hour ago."
Larry Woolsey, 77, a volunteer with the Sheriff's Mounted Posse, was killed during the search for Alexander on Tuesday, April 5, when he slipped while crossing an old dam and fell 20 feet. He was pronounced dead at the scene after efforts to revive him failed.
