Wallow Fire at 443,889 acres, 10 % containment
The Wallow Fire is currently not threatening Springerville-Eager and evacuation orders have been lifted for residents in Springerville and Eager.
On the eastern side, fire behavior on Sunday, June 12, was moderate. Today's activities included mop up and removal of hazard trees in Alpine, Nutrioso and Tai Wi Wi areas. Mop up is currently under way in the South Fork area following last night's burnout operation.
Burnout operations have been completed along FR 220 south to US 180 northwest of Luna, New Mexico.
On the east side of the fire, efforts to burn out remaining fuels between the containment lines and the fire have been successful. Firefighters completed a burnout operation in the Turkey Creek drainage. Firefighters are building a containment line to the intersection of Hwy. 281 and the Blue River. Line construction continues along the Blue River and containment lines in the vicinity of Greer are being widened.
On the western and southern side, firefighters made progress widening and holding control lines. Mop up is beginning in areas north of Black River with firelines south of the river holding. Crews are constructing some 10 miles of indirect line along the fire's south end.
No additional residences or commercial buildings have been burned. The number of homes destroyed remains at 29 with five homes damaged, and four commercial properties destroyed.
One additional injury has been reported, bringing the number of injured to seven.
