Willow Fire between Payson and Heber now 10 percent contained

Forest Roads closed by Black Canyon Lake due to Willow Fire

The Willow Fire burning 44 miles northeast of Payson which was first observed Saturday, June 19, is now at 305 acres and 10 percent contained.
Two residences and power lines that feed the Valley are threatened as the fire, with fuel that includes Douglas and White Fir, burns in a northeasterly direction.
By Monday, June 20, 278 firefighting personnel were on the scene and the Eastern Arizona Type 2 Incident Management Team assumed command at 6 p.m.
The fire that was initially reported as being human caused remains under investigation.
