Governor
Brewer has ordered that flags at all state office buildings be lowered
to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, May 24, 2012 in
honor of Army First Lieutenant Alejo R. Thompson of Yuma, Arizona. His
funeral is being held in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
First
Lieutenant Thompson died May 11, 2012 in Parwan Province, Afghanistan
in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He died of injuries sustained
when his dismounted patrol received small arms fire. He was assigned
to A Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry
Division, Fort Carson, Colorado.
Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in this tribute.
