Weekend events in Payson

Gary Hardt Memorial Spring Rodeo May 17, 18 & 19
Rodeo events start on Thursday, May 17 at the Payson Event Center with the Cactus Women’s Professional Rodeo Association Barrel Racing and other events.  Gates open at 5 p.m.; performances begin at 7 p.m.  Admission is one or more cans of food to benefit area food banks.  Main rodeo events will be held on Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19.  Friday’s events include “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” performance; participants and spectators encouraged to wear pink.  Gates open at 5 p.m.; performance at 7 p.m.  Benefit to raise funds and awareness to fight breast cancer.  Patriot Performance will begin at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.  Benefit to honor wounded and fallen veterans.  Tickets are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $10 for children ages 8 to 12.  For more information, call: 474-9440 or 474-6684.

Fourth Annual Farmer’s Market kicks off Saturday, May 19
The annual Payson Farmer's Market will kick off  Saturday, May 19 from 8 a.m. to noon.  There will be many returning vendors and also some new vendors. The market will be held every Saturday through September at the Sawmill Theatre parking lot behind Chili’s.  For more information, contact Katie Klein at: (602) 524-0352.

 Northern Gila County Historical Society Dinner May 19
The Northern Gila County Historical Society will hold a dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 19 at Chaparral Pines Clubhouse.  The evening includes an art auction featuring prints by Donn Morris and Conrad Okerwall, Chocolate Bonanza, live entertainment by Bill Camp and a book signing by Stan Brown, “Andres & Delfine: A Saga of Hispanic Settlement in Arizona”.  Tickets can be purchased for $35 per person at the Rim Country Museum, 700 Green Valley Parkway. 
 
Annual Payson Aero Fair CANCELLED
The annual Payson Aero Fair scheduled from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 19 at the Payson Airport, 806 W. Airport Road, has been cancelled  due to local firefighting efforts.
 
Sunday Jazz Concert May 20
There will be a jazz concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 20 at the Payson Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W.
