Eagles free airplane flight
All youth between the ages of 8 and 17 are
encouraged to participate in an introductory flying lesson at the Payson
Airport, 806 W. Airport Road, on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Youth must be accompanied by a parent or
guardian; first come, first to fly basis.
The event is sponsored by pilots and ground volunteers of the
Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 810 Young Eagles Program of

Fifth
Annual Fall Apple Festival in Pine
The Fifth Annual Fall Apple Festival will be held at
the Pine Strawberry Community Center and Ramada on Saturday, Oct. 6
from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Fifth Annual Chili Cook-off will be on
Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. The Cultural
Hall will have children’s activities; entertainment to include 1920s music;
antique cars will be on display. No

Safety
Fair at Home Depot
The Home Depot parking lot will be the sight of a
safety fair on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to kick off the
Fire Safety/Prevention Week which begins on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Safety organizations from around the Rim
Country will be on hand to participate--from the Payson Police Department to
the Tonto Rim Search and Rescue and Mounted Posse. Canine demonstrations and face painting for
the kids will be part of the fair festivities.

Lioness
Club ‘By Donation’ bake sale
The “By Donation Bake Sale” sponsored by the Payson
Lioness Club will be held in front of the Safeway, on the south side of Highway
260, on Saturday, Oct. 6 beginning at 9 a.m. All proceeds to benefit local charities and
the Lion’s Club hearing and vision projects.

Annual Zane Grey Weekend Arts & Crafts Bazaar
The 15th Annual Zane Grey Days Weekend Arts &
Crafts Bazaar will be held on Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct 7 beginning
at 9 a.m. at the Gila County Courthouse parking lot on the corner of the
Beeline Highway and West Main Street.
Artisans and crafters from Payson and other areas will sell their
handcrafted wares, including paintings, clothing, jewelry and decorative
items. Chain saw art demonstrations and
music will round out the event.
Quilting
Sisters to sponsor 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Pillowcase Sew
The Quilting Sisters, 904 N. Beeline Highway, will
hold its 3rd Annual Breast Cancer Pillowcase sew in honor of October’s Breast
Cancer Awareness month. Meet at Quilting
Sisters, 904 N. Beeline Highway, on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 10 a.m. and plan
to stay until the project is complete.
All pillowcases will be donated to Rim Country Valley Radiology and
Oncology for distribution to cancer patients.

luau at Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus will host a Hawaiian luau at
