ADOT updates travel information

Winter storm forces road closures and travel warnings in northern Arizona

PHOENIX - The Arizona Department of Transportation has closed several highways after this weekend's winter storm created snowpacked and icy conditions. Chains or four-wheel drive are recommended on SR 260 east and west of Payson and on US 60 between Globe and Show Low.

ADOT crews are working to reopen the interstates as soon as possible. Drivers are encouraged to stay up to date on highway conditions via ADOT's Travel Information site at www.az511.gov or by calling 5-1-1.

ADOT snowplow operators continue to work around the clock to reopen stretches of Interstatess 17 and 40 that were closed overnight.
The following highways are closed this morning (Sunday, Feb. 20):

  • Northbound I-17 closed between SR 179 (Sedona turnoff and Flagstaff)
  • I-40 closed to traffic in both directions between Ash Fork (west of Flagstaff) and Winslow
  • SR 89A closed between Flagstaff and Sedona
  • US 180 closed in both directions northwest of Kendrick Park (approximately 15 miles northwest of Flagstaff)
