ADOT to work on SR 77 five miles south of Globe

 SR 77 lane closures in effect south of Globe next week 
The Arizona Department of Transportation will apply a coat of rejuvenating oil to the roadway surface on a three mile stretch of SR 77 five miles south of Globe beginning Wednesday, May 18 through Thursday, May 19.

What to expect the week of May 16:

Blasting Scheduled – Tuesday, May 17Road Closure 11:30 a.m.
ADOT will close a two-mile segment of SR 260 12 miles east of Star Valley on Tuesday, May 17 at 11:30 a.m. The roadway will be closed for 45 minutes to provide a safe work zone for crews as they conduct blasting operations on the project. Eastbound traffic will be stopped at approximately milepost 269 and westbound traffic will be stopped at approximately milepost 271.
Blasting on the project uses controlled explosives to excavate and remove rock as crews continue to clear the path for the new roadway.
Drivers can expect delays of up to 45 minutes. Please allow extra time to reach your destination. Once the highway is re-opened, motorists will continue traveling in an active construction zone. Speed limits are reduced and a width restriction of 10 feet remains in place. Message boards, temporary barricades, and signage will guide motorists through the route. ADOT appreciates the traveling public's patience during construction.

Paving of the Eastbound Lanes – Increased Truck Traffic
ADOT crews will begin paving the eastbound lanes of the new roadway the week of May 16. Truck traffic will be heavy during work hours. The increased volume of truck traffic may require brief delays to allow vehicles and paving equipment to maneuver safely through the work zone. Motorists can expect brief delays. Please allow extra time to reach your destination.
Work hours are between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday during paving operations. Message boards, temporary barricades, and signage will guide motorists through the route. Please do not follow trucks.
The speed limit within the construction zone is reduced to 45 miles per hour and a width restriction of 10 feet remains in place.  

What to expect during work hours:
 
§         ADOT will be working on northbound and southbound SR 77 between Globe and Winkelman.
§         Lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
§         Work crews will direct motorists through the lane closures in the work zone. 
§         Drivers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes.

§         Drivers are reminded to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
 
The construction project schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, material availability and mechanical difficulties.
