Statement by Governor Jan Brewer

Mourning the loss of Air Captain Nathan J. Nylander
PHOENIX – “With deep sorrow and a heavy heart, I ask all Arizonans to join me today in thoughtful prayer and genuine reflection for the family of Captain Nathan J. Nylander, who was killed in action on April 27, 2011, at the Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan.
“Captain Nylander was a member of the 25th Operational Weather Squadron, and stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. We honor this fine individual for his service to this country.

“I encourage all Arizonans to take a moment and reflect upon the sacrifices made by those who serve our citizens in law enforcement, public safety and military professions. They risk their lives to protect us from harm. We are forever grateful.

“I have ordered that flags be lowered to half staff today, May 10, in honor and recognition of Captain Nylander.”
