Alpine residents ordered to evacuate town to escape Wallow Fire

The Town of Alpine in Eastern Arizona has been ordered evacuated as of 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, June 2.  After a 6 p.m. meeting in Alpine, residents were told they were to evacuate the town  because of the proximity of the Wallow Fire and blowing winds. They left the meeting to go back to their homes and pack up. As of early Thursday evening, there were eight wildfires burning throughout Arizona, but only the Wallow Fire was threatening structures and lives.
