Northbound 1-17 repaving project near Camp Verde begins Friday

Allow extra travel time between Phoenix and Flagstaff

The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a $5 million project to repave a six-mile segment of northbound Interstate 17 north of Camp Verde. The project will include repaving the roadway with a new layer of smooth, quiet rubberized asphalt.

The project will begin Friday, August 26, and is scheduled for completion by late November. Motorists need to be aware of lane restrictions and the reduced speed limit of 45 mph. Crews will be working from 4 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, but lane restrictions will be in place 24 hours each day, seven days a week.

There is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

Drivers are reminded to slow down, proceed through the work zone with caution, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
