PHS grad watches protestors from the rooftop

Samantha Green, the daughter of Mark and Susan Green of Farmer’s Insurance in Payson, joined the Navy in August 2008 after graduation from Payson High School.
She was trained in intensive computer technology and was deployed in May 2010 for a two-year stint in Bahrain, a tiny Persian Gulf state tucked between Saudi Arabia and Quatar.
This tiny island is of vital interest to the U.S. because it is used to monitor the flow of oil and it is home to the Navy's 5th fleet and a base used by the U.S. Air Force.
Samantha Green works as an Advanced Electronic Technician repairing, setting up and maintaining hardware, software, cableing and satellites. She rents a condo off base, owns a car, and has enjoyed seeing the night life.

Earlier this week thousands of Shiites protested in the capital of Manama. The protest followed "A Day of Rage" between Shiite Muslims and Sunni security forces backed by the Sunni Al Khalifa dynasty.
When things get too dicey in Bahrain, the Navy tells Samantha Green to stay home. She has told her parents that she sometimes climbs to the rooftop of her apartment building where she watches the protestors in the street below.
During the times that she is advised to stay in her apartment, Samantha Green thinks about her future. She is learning about mutual funds and slow growth, low risk investments.
Her parents say they are very proud of what she has accomplished, the work she has done and the work she plans to do.
It has been said that if you join the Navy you get to see the world. This has certainly been true in Samantha Green's case.
