Payson Regional Medical Center starts visitor restrictions due to increased flu activity
According to state health agencies, Arizona has widespread flu activity with Phoenix metro hospitals at or near capacity with patients, many of whom have flu-like symptoms.
Payson area physicians have also seen a sharp increase in seasonal influenza activity in the past two weeks.
Due to the increase in flu cases, the administration at PRMC, physician leadership, and the infection prevention office of the hospital have issued visitor restrictions for the hospital.
To prevent the spread of respiratory viruses to hospital patients effective immediately, until further notice, no visitors under age 12 will be allowed to visit (exceptions can be made at the director's discretion for critical or dying patients).
Additional restrictions are in place for all visitors who may be sick. The following are some helpful tips for area workers or those intending on coming to the hospital to visit a loved one.
We appreciate your help in making our environment healthier for yourself, your loved ones and all of our patients, staff and visitors.
- If you have a fever and cough or sore throat, please go home, rest and take care of yourself. If circumstance requires your presence you must wear a mask.
- Cover your cough and use frequent hand hygiene to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses.
