We also bring the outside world in, primarily events from around the state that we believe are of interest to Rim Country residents. We believe that Payson needs this exposure. We are not an island. We have people living here who travel, who explore the state, the country and the world, who want to know what's going on beyond Payson's limited borders.
We have provided that information to the best of our ability and have attempted to provide the outside world with a glimpse of Payson, its events and activities.
This we have done without compensation, believing that news should be available to everyone.
However, because of the economy, the loss of jobs, and our diminishing income, my husband and I are struggling financially to keep a roof over our heads, food in the house, and the utilities paid. My husband is working part-time for much less than he made before the recession began. I have worked for three newspapers in the past three years, all of which went out of business. I am of retirement age, but cannot retire and cannot find a job - possibly because age discrimination really does exist (I had one interviewer ask me if I would be able to sit all day).
Because of my background as a reporter, my love for the profession, and my education, my son created this blog, which has become my source of activity and my contribution to the community. In order to continue, I am asking our viewers for a donation, only $1 a month from each, payable through PayPal, which can be found on the left side column. I am hoping this small contribution from each of our viewers will see us through a difficult time.
