Davis-Monthan Air Force Base will not face consolidation

Statement by Governor Jan Brewer

PHOENIX - "I am extremely pleased with the decision of the U.S. Air Force to maintain the 612th Air and Space Operations Center at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, rather than consolidate it with the 601st Air and Space Operations Center at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida, as previously considered.

“Had the consolidation occurred, the job loss to the Tucson area would have been significant as 255 positions likely would have been transferred to Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida.

“Today’s announcement is good news for Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and good news for the southern Arizona economy. I commend the collaborative efforts of all involved.”
