Found seated on a blanket under a tree, victim had left a note on abandoned vehicle that he had gone on a "vision quest."
Search and Rescue volunteers, including a cadaver dog, began the search off the South Road in the area where Michael Snarski was last thought to have been. Snarski’s vehicle had been located abandoned on July 24, with a note inside indicating he had gone on a “vision quest.” An investigation at that time failed to locate the missing man.
On Saturday, the cadaver dog led searchers to the deceased body of a male who was seated on a blanket under a tree. Sheriff’s Detectives located a note pad similar to the one found in Snarski’s vehicle, as well as a full water bottle and some items of food near the body. There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play. An autopsy was performed today by the Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office, and a cause of death has yet to be determined.
Sheriff’s Detectives and the Medical Examiner’s Office have tentatively identified the body as that of Michael Snarski, 43, of Thornton, Colorado.
