Governor Brewer's holiday greeting to Arizonans

Statement by Governor Jan Brewer
Wishing Arizonans a Happy Thanksgiving

“Thanksgiving is upon us, a sign that the holiday season is officially in full swing. I hope Arizonans take this wonderful opportunity to come together with friends, family and loved ones to reflect on the many blessings for which we should all be grateful.

“Originally celebrated nearly 400 years ago, Thanksgiving is the first holiday that was truly and uniquely American. It is a tradition that began as an expression of our gratitude to God for His many blessings and safe guidance to the New World. Indeed, it is a practice that speaks to our national character – to the humility and gratitude with which we accept and cherish our blessings of freedom, family and faith.

“As both Arizonans and Americans, we have much for which to be thankful this year. I encourage everyone to join me in recognizing and reflecting upon our many blessings this holiday weekend. I wish all Arizonans a happy, safe and plentiful Thanksgiving.”
