Interstate 8 now open after closure due to dust storm

I-8 open again as dust conditions improve southwest of Casa Grande-Drivers still advised to use caution

PHOENIX - A section of Interstate 8 is fully open to traffic at this hour after blowing dust resulted in intermittent closures southwest of Casa Grande earlier today, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

When visibility was reduced in the area near Bianco Road, ten miles west of the I-8/I-10 junction, Department of Public Safety officers escorted vehicles along the interstate.

Although conditions have improved, ADOT and DPS are monitoring the situation. Due to high winds and possible blowing dust, drivers are still advised use caution if traveling along state highways this evening.

An ADOT maintenance crew worked to clean up a small deposit of sand and dirt that built up along the eastbound lanes of I-8 near Bianco Road.
