Veterans Helping Veterans tenant makes off with money from sale of vehicle intended for donation

Suspect left town in vehicle belonging to Veterans' Center

The Payson Police Department became aware of a situation involving the Veterans
Helping Veterans Center in Payson. This month a citizen made arrangements with the
center and one of the tenants to sell a vehicle for him. Once the citizen’s vehicle was
sold, he would donate some of the proceeds to the center.
The tenant who had agreed to handle the sale, obtained a title to the vehicle and sold
the vehicle for approximately $14,000.00. The tenant then left the Payson area without
giving any money to the owner or to the Veteran’s Center. In addition, the tenant left
in a vehicle that is owned by the center.
An investigation is still ongoing. If you have any information regarding this crime or
any others please contact Detective McAnerny at the Payson Police Department or you
can call 928-HotTips (468-8477). You can remain anonymous and there may be a
reward if an arrest is made due to the information provided.
