DPS to enforce "Click it or Ticket" on I-40 Feb. 3

"Get your ‘Clicks’  on Route 66" is focused on seatbelt and child restraint compliance

On Friday, Feb. 3, the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s Highway Patrol Division will be a part of a multi-state enforcement program focusing on the use of seatbelts. Other states participating include Oklahoma, Iowa, Mississippi, New Mexico, California, Texas and Kansas. Troopers from those states will focus their enforcement on seatbelt compliance during the entire day.

The Arizona Highway Patrol will be vigilant on Interstate 40 for 24 hours on Friday. Seatbelts and child restraints are credited with saving approximately 13,000 lives according to the National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration. Seatbelts and child restraints also reduce the likeliness of injury during a roll-over crash by 75 percent.

The focus of this enforcement is to ensure the safe travels of motorists on our roadways
