Fourth Annual Lip Sync Concert Feb. 18 at PHS Auditorium



Event provides scholarships for local students

The Fourth Annual Lip Sync Concert Feb. 18  at Payson High School Auditorium will be presented by Kiwanis, Rim Country Optimist, and Rotary Clubs along with the PHS Drama Club. All three clubs will have silent auction items for all ages and there will also be a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds from this event will be used to provide scholarships for all types of continuing education.  
Thomas Walling, auditorium director, will be orchestrating this event. The talented Troy Whalen, grand winner of the first Lip Sync Contest, will be the emcee.
           In addition to the contest, students from Center for Success, Payson Education Center, and PHS will provide entertainment. The judges for the Lip Sync Contest are Su Connell, Nancy Landino, Craig (DJ) Miller, Kathy Bickert and Stephine Landers.
          Rim Country Middle school Junior Thespians will open the concert and the newly started Thespian Troupe from Alchesay High School will close the evening’s performance. There has also been a hint of a surprise performance in the making
           More than $1,000 will be given out in prizes: First Place, traditional and comedy, $250 each; Second Place, traditional and comedy, $150 each; Third place, traditional and comedy, $100 each; Audience winner choice, $100. Judges evaluate four different areas. Most important is Lip Sync ability and portraying the song.             .
Tickets purchased before Feb. 18 will be $2 less than the $12 adult and the $6 youth tickets. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased from members of the participating clubs, Payson High School Studio Theater, Rim Country Regional Chamber, Christian Book Store and the Payson Library.
