Coconino County Sheriff's deputies respond to injured ATV rider at Cinder Lakes

18 year old Flagstaff resident critically injured in ATV accident

On Saturday, March 31, Coconino County Sheriff's deputies and the Summit Guardian Medical team responded to the scene of an accident off Forest Service Road 777 just north of Flagstaff. The area is commonly known as the “Cinder Lakes”, a designated off road vehicle use area.
Taylor Stark, 18, had been riding his ATV alone on the forest service road. Evidence at the scene indicated that Stark left the roadway for an unknown reason, and traveled on the shoulder of the road a short distance before colliding head on with a tree. Two females leaving the area drove up on the scene and notified 911.
Stark was treated at the scene and quickly transported to Flagstaff Medical Center. Stark had suffered severe head and facial trauma.
Deputies on scene made contact with and interviewed several people. Information obtained from these interviews, as well as research of Facebook sites found there had been a party at Cinder Lakes and Stark had most likely attended the party. Several of the people contacted had been drinking and several were found to be under the legal drinking age. It is not known if Stark had been drinking prior to theaccident. The accident occurred the day prior to Stark’s 19th birthday.
Stark was admitted to FMC and listed in critical condition. The accident is still under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office
