The missing woman's family reported that she was last seen in upstate New York at Elmira College, where she was a student, on Jan. 10.  She had left a note for her roommates that she was returning home for a "family emergency." The family reported that there was no  emergency and that their daughter never returned home.
Credit card checks revealed she had been in Chattahoochee, FL  on Jan. 12, in Baytown, TX on Jan. 17, and in Williams, AZ on Jan. 18. She was believed to be traveling alone, but made hotel reservations for two adults, and was said to be heading for the Grand Canyon area.
Early Sunday morning on April 1, the family revealed that they had just been informed that Jessica Ronhock died in a fatal collision on a treacherous segment of I-17 near milepost 312, 23 south of Flagstaff.
The accident, which is reported to have occurred some two months ago, was in a remote area at the bottom of a 200-foot ravine. Elk hunters discovered the young woman's body in the Jeep.
