Long Fire south of Payson contained to 30 acres

 

Long Fire (multiple starts) on Tonto National Forest:  contained

South of Payson, Ariz., Jul. 7, 2012, 2030 hrs.

 

Summary: 

·         Fire which began earlier today (multiple starts) along median and on west side of Hwy. 87 is estimated at about 30 acres in size and is contained.

·         Air and ground resources were successfully deployed to suppress these multiple fire starts.

·         Payson and Tonto Basin fire departments, DPS, and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) were cooperators.

·         Hwy. 87 projected to be open by 8:30 pm tonight (north and southbound).  For updates, check with DPS.
