Hospital Arts and Crafts sale
The Mogollon Health Alliance Auxiliary will have an Arts & Crafts Sale at the Payson Regional Medical Center, 807 S. Ponderosa Street, in the main lobby on Friday, July 20 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Many items will be on sale, from baby blankets and bibs to bird feeders.  Proceeds support many programs and scholarships offered by the Mogollon Health Alliance.  For more information, call: 472-2588.

Pleasant Valley Days
An Arizona Centennial celebration is scheduled for the 23rd Annual Pleasant Valley Days in Young from Friday, July 20 through Sunday, July 22.  Descendants of pioneer families from the 1800s or early 1900s who homesteaded or settled in Young or the surrounding area of Pleasant Valley will participate in the celebration parade. All Day Fish Fry at the Cedar Ridge Restaurant, Mazatzal Hotel & Casino

Wine and cheese reception at Democratic Headquarters
The Gila County Democratic Party Headquarters at 1101 S. Beeline Highway will be the site for a wine and cheese reception slated for Friday, July 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased online at: www.azdem.org/payson2012 or contact Rebecca Pringle at: (602) 234-6821.  Contributions are not tax deductible for state or federal income tax purposes.
Music at Mountain High Coffee Works
The Cat’s Vyktrola featuring Kirk Burnett on banjo and mandolin, Dave Rentz on percussion and Vyktoria Keating on vocals and guitar, will play at Mountain High Coffee Works, 612 N. Payson Farmers Market
Visit the Payson Farmers Market this Saturday, July 21 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Sawmill Theatre parking lot at 816 S. The Rim Country Republicans will hold a yard sale on Saturday, July 21 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Republican Headquarters, 616 S. Beeline Highway.

Summer Sizzle Garden Party and Fashion Show
The Summer Sizzle Garden Party and Fashion Show benefit for Time Out, Inc. will be held at Bob and Ruth Klaver’s garden on Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m.  The benefit includes a fashion show with great items from the Time Out Thrift Shop, a delicious lunch and many other items.  Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the Time Out Thrift Shop located at 500 S. Southern Flight touches down at Green Valley Park
The country rock band, Southern Flight, will play at the Green Valley Park summer concert series on Saturday, July 21 from 7 to 9 p.m.  The group of five hails from Texas and plays rock, southern rock, country and country rock.

Live music at the Flying Grizzly in Strawberry
The Flying Grizzly, 5079 N. Highway 87 in Strawberry, will host live music performed by Keven Moen on Saturday, July 21 from 7 to 11 p.m.  For more information, call: (928) 978-1412.

Looking Ahead

Backpack giveaway at McDonald’s
The Payson McDonald’s restaurant, 107 E. Highway 260, will host Backpack Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 28.  The first 100 children to visit the restaurant will receive a free backpack.  Health and safety educational materials will also be given away by the Payson Regional Medical Center, High Desert Dentistry and the Payson Fire Department.  Participating McDonald’s restaurants throughout Phoenix and northern Arizona will donate 20,000 backpacks to help children prepare to return to school.

‘Skirting Traditions’ book signing at Payson Public Library
A “Skirting Traditions” book signing will be held  at the Payson Public Library on Saturday, July 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The book signing is sponsored by the Arizona Women Writers and Journalists from 1912-2012.  For more information, contact the library at: 474-9260.

‘History & Biscuits’: Tales from the Rim program at LDS Church
The LDS Church, Stake Family History Center will host a two-hour program, “History & Biscuits” on Saturday, July 28 from 4 to 6 p.m.  The center is located at 913 S. Ponderosa Street. Surfin’ Safari: Tribute to the Beach Boys at Mazatzal Hotel & Casino
The Surfin’ Safari band will play on Saturday, July 28 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino.  Surfin’ Safari is a faithful re-creation of what it would have been like to see The Beach Boys live, in concert, in their prime. This five-member lineup is unrivaled in their sound, presentation and professionalism. There are no backing tracks or extra musicians playing off-stage!  Surfin’ Safari is as close as you will ever get to seeing the original five-member lineup of the Beach Boys. The incomparable beauty of their vocal harmonies, the crashing backbeat of Dennis Wilson’s drums, the soaring surf guitar of Carl Wilson and the genius of Brian Wilson’s music are all here. ‘A Taste at the Bridge’ at the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park
Friends of the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park will present "A Taste at the Bridge," on Saturday, August 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. The early evening setting will depict the Tonto Natural Bridge at its finest and will showcase western art by local artists.  The festivities will also include wine, light finger food, music, raffles and door prizes. This will be the only fundraiser by the Friends of the Tonto Natural Bridge group.  Proceeds will benefit the Tonto Natural Bridge in operations and areas that are not funded by the State of Arizona.

Kickoff Party for Payson's Longest Continuous Rodeo aka August Doin's
Jakes Corner Bar at 57560 N. AZ Hwy. 188 is hosting the party Saturday, Aug. 11 with the Second Annual Testicle Festival. There will be plenty of Rocky Mountain oysters as well as famous steaks, burgers,  cowboy beans and a complete menu. There'll be games, raffles, the Saloon Girls with the jail and plenty of friends and music. For information, call 928-468-5253.
