Creative Writers reading at Mountain High Coffee Works

The Rim Country Creative Writers invites the public to hear their readings on Friday, July 13 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Mountain High Coffee Works, 612 N. Beeline Highway in the Swiss Village.  Listen to a mixture of romance, mystery, poetry and more while sipping on a cup of coffee.

All Day Fish Fry at the Cedar Ridge Restaurant, Mazatzal Hotel & Casino

The Gila County 4H Club will sponsor the Annual 4H yard sale on Saturday, July 14 from 7 to 11 a.m. at 107 W. Wade Lane.  Find great bargains and enjoy baked goods and snow cones.  Proceeds will benefit the group’s 4H projects.

NGCEDC holds Job Fair

There will be a Job Fair on Saturday, July 14 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Payson Messinger Community Room, 901 S. Westerly Road.  The fair is sponsored by the Northern Gila County Economic Development Corporation and the Rim Country Chamber of Commerce. The fair is open to any Rim Country resident or business.  Interested businesses must call the Chamber at: 474-4415 or the NGCEDC at: (928) 978-0681.  The purpose of the fair is to get employers who need employees to meet eligible applicants in the Rim Country.

AARP Driver Safety class

Big Daddy D and the Dynamites at the summer concert series in the park

Big Daddy D and the Dynamites, a five-piece, high-energy, rhythm and blues band will play at the Green Valley Park summer concert series on Saturday, July 14 from 7 to 9 p.m.  The Dynamites won the Arizona Blues Showdown in 2007 and a place onstage at the annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis in 2008.   Based in Prescott, the band has built a solid reputation for delivering a strong catalog of original songs.

Krispy Kreme doughnuts for sale this Sunday

A Krispy Kreme doughnut fundraiser will be held in front of Safeway and Walmart all day Sunday.  The fundraiser will pay for Rim Country Middle School and Payson High School students to attend an adventure field trip to New York City in order to see the Statue of Liberty, World Trade Center building and Times Square.  Cost is $10 per dozen doughnuts.  For more information, call Marlene Armstrong at: (928) 514-8955.

Jazz concert at Community Presbyterian Church

Jazz saxophonist Tony Vacca, an internationally known performing and recording artist, will play on Sunday, July 15 at 2:30 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, 800 W. Wine and cheese reception at Democratic Headquarters

The Gila County Democratic Party Headquarters at 1101 S. Summer Sizzle Garden Party and Fashion Show

The summer benefit for Time Out, Inc. will be held at Bob and Ruth Klaver’s garden on Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m.  The benefit includes a fashion show with great items from the Time Out Thrift Shop, a delicious lunch and many other items.  Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the Time Out Thrift Shop located at 500 S. ‘History & Biscuits’: Tales from the Rim program at LDS Church
The LDS Church, Stake Family History Center will host a two-hour program, “History & Biscuits” on Saturday, July 28 from 4 to 6 p.m.  The center is located at 913 S. Ponderosa Street. Surfin’ Safari: Tribute to the Beach Boys at Mazatzal Hotel & Casino

The Surfin’ Safari band will play on Saturday, July 28 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino.  Surfin’ Safari is a faithful recreation of what it would have been like to see The Beach Boys live, in concert, in their prime. This five-member lineup is unrivaled in their sound, presentation and professionalism. ‘A Taste at the Bridge’ at the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park

Friends of the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park will present "A Taste at the Bridge," on Saturday, August 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. The early evening setting will depict the Tonto Natural Bridge at its finest and will showcase western art by local artists.  The festivities will also include wine, light finger food, music, raffles and door prizes. This will be the only fundraiser by the Friends of the Tonto Natural Bridge group.  Proceeds will benefit the Tonto Natural Bridge in operations and areas that are not funded by the State of Arizona.
