Applications now being accepted for ALLECA

The American Legion Law Enforcement Career Academy (A.L.L.E.C.A.) is currently accepting applications for its youth academy to be held June 4 through June 10, near Mormon Lake at St. Joseph’s Youth Camp.

The seven-day program is under the leadership of the Arizona Department of Public Safety with various classes taught by Arizona certified law enforcement officers.

The Payson Police Department is a supporter of this camp and would like to encourage any Payson area youth who have an interest in law enforcement to take part in this learning experience.

"This program has helped those who attend to develop strong leadership skills," said Payson Police Chief Don Engler.  "The camp is based on team building and helps motivate and inspire youth to participate in leadership positions in school and community."

The boys and girls, ages 11 thru 18, who attend are put through a lot of the same rigorous training and educational programs that the law enforcement officers in their communities experience when attending a police academy. The camp is sponsored and run by the American Legion.
The fees for this week-long camp are $250 and include food and uniform expenses. For further information contact the Payson Police Department at 928-474-5242 ext. 220.
