Commercial vehicle strikes mini van, driver killed along with three people in mini van, one injured in third vehicle
I-10 westbound at mp 210 closed for seven hours
Sept. 8, 2011 - Press release from AZ DPS: I-10 westbound at mp 210 was closed from 7 a.m. until just before 2 p.m. Thursday
At this point in the investigation we have the following information:
Today, at about 7:01 a.m., a commercial vehicle was eastbound on Interstate 10, approximate milepost 210. For an unknown reason the driver of the commercial vehicle lost control of the vehicle. It ran through the median area and re-entered Interstate 10 in the westbound lanes of traffic. The commercial vehicle struck a mini van and another passenger vehicle. The mini van caught fire. Three people in the mini vehicle were killed. The commercial vehicle rolled onto it's side. The driver of the commercial vehicle also was killed in the collision.
A westbound commercial vehicle ran into the other commercial vehicle as it lay on it's side. The driver of that commercial vehicle was critically injured and transported for treatment.
