Friday Oct 7th, 5-8pm, Down the Street Art Gallery will be having an opening of a new show of their artists’ interpretation of “Dia de los Muertos” or Day of the Dead, which includes sculptures, baskets, paintings jewelry & gourd art.. Dia de los Muertos is a Latin American Holiday taking place Nov 1st & 2nd when families go to cemeteries to honor and be with the souls of the departed. They often build private altars containing the deceased favorite food & drink, with photos & memorabilia. These celebrations can take a humorous tone as celebrants remember funny events & anecdotes about the departed & have picnics at the gravesite. Stop in for a treat while viewing their take on the skulls ( Calaveras) & Skeletons ( Calacas) used in these celebrations. 703 W. Main St.
