2011 Powellapalooza Music Festival draws thousands - law enforcement reports many arrested, but no major incidents.
Flagstaff, AZ- During the weekend of September 23, 2011 through September 26, 2011, police officers and sheriff deputies from multiple law enforcement agencies partnered with one another to ensure the safety of thousands of participants who attended the 2011 Powellapalooza Music Festival. This large scale event consisted of numerous bands and related activities.
There were two separate venues with stages and vendors for each event – one was located within the Page City limits near the Coppermine Road and US Highway 98 interchange and the other at Antelope Point at Lake Powell . Law enforcement agencies in the surrounding area began to prepare for the inundation of crowds attracted to the area by the event several months before it began. As a result of this cooperative effort, many agencies participated to include the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office, National Park Service, Page Police Department , Arizona Game and Fish Department, Bureau of Land Management, Arizona Department of Liquor Control, METRO Narcotics Task Force, Arizona Department of Public Safety, and the Navajo Police Department.
